FOCUS Media Arts Centre Needs Your Support!
The FOCUS Media Arts Centre is holding its third annual Charity Auction Fundraiser in partnership with four other organizations.
The 2020 I Heart Neighbourhood Charity Auction Fundraiser will take place on Thursday, 30 April, 2020, from 6:30PM to 9:30PM at Daniels Spectrum 585 Dundas Street East, Toronto, ON. Attendees will enjoy an elegant evening mixing delicious fare and beverages with both a silent and live auction, live entertainment, and the opportunity to learn about the work of five local charities.
All the proceeds that are raised from financial donations and sponsorships, sell of tickets and auction items donated by our supporters will go towards the FOCUS Arts Media Centre.

Purchase an on-line ticket to the event and solicit your friends and family members to purchase on-line tickets on behalf of FOCUS Media Arts Centre. Early Bird Tickets are on sale now till March 15th for $100.00. After March 15th the cost will be $125.00.
Make a donation and use your relationships with individuals, retailers, companies and workplace employers to obtain a financial sponsorship donation and/or live and silent auction items in support of FOCUS Media Arts Centre. All financial donations will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Build an IoT (Internet of things) device and get it to listen and measure the environment, connect it to the Cloud, analyze results. Starting with computer hardware and operating systems, you will discover why there are over 3 billion IoT devices and all the amazing possibilities offered.

BUILDING COMPUTERS 101
The workshop will focus on learning the essentials to building a desktop computer. Learning about basic hardware requirements, installing an operating system, and adding programs and applications to customize it using free and open source software.

Imagine turning a school desk into an arcade console, or giving an old bicycle a high-tech collision warning system… maybe upgrading a toaster so it never burns the toast! Bringing together digital tech with junk is fun and helps to deal with the city’s garbage troubles.
