Tough Guise is a multimedia presentation examining the portrayal of masculinity in popular culture and how this is linked to the practice of posturing and violence. The presentation was produced in 2003 by Regent Park Focus in partnership with U of T's Teen Net Program. We encourage the use of this presentation as an education tool to stimulate discussions on masculinity, media and violence. Community groups and schools that have an interest in the subject matter raised in this presentation are encouraged to contact Regent Park Focus to schedule a Tough Guise workshop. The workshops are led by Regent Park Focus media educators.
Special thanks to all the youth who participated in the project including Focus members Vinh Duong and Simon Molner who created the rap. Tough Guise was sponsored by the Tippet Foundation and the Laidlaw Foundation's Youth Engagement Program.
